Pilates is a unique system of stretching and strengthening exercises developed over 90 years ago by Joseph Pilates. He had a lifelong interest in body conditioning and opened his first Pilates studio in 1926 in New York City. Once an exercise program coveted and known only by dancers and elite athletes, this method is now recommended and used by chiropractors, physical therapists and orthopedic specialists.
